Reading Skill




Abstract

This research focused on “picture series” in reading. It is as a strategy which can show us the effectiveness of applying “picture series” at 8th class SMAN 1 SRONO in academic year 2015/2016.  This strategy used to explain text through pictures, to guide the students to follow sentences by using vocabulary found based on the pictures, and to support the students to remember detail information because of sequence event. The research is using the experimental method and the technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis. Thus, the aims of conducting this research are to find out the data of the students’ reading achivement that have been taught using “picture series” strategy, as well as to get a real evidence of the effectiveness of the use of this particular strategy. Above all, the teacher's role of appropriate material and media is awfully required because it will elevate the students' motivation to learn English. Finally, strategy by using “picture series” suggested to apply in reading class. And the future researchers are recommended to conduct research by implementing the picture series in other language skills or by using another.
